Revitalization Is the Great Co-Mission:

You may have heard The Great Commission, called the Great “Co-Mission”. While neither of those phrases is literally in scripture, I think there’s something deeply biblical in that idea.
Here's why:
It's both His mission, and ours.
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:19–20
Notice, it was His mission before it ever became ours.
That truth should shift our mindset.
If it is His mission, then our focus cannot solely be about our church—our problems, our attendance, our budget, our struggles, or even our ministry efforts. The work of the local church is absolutely a fulfillment of the Great commission, but the mission Jesus calls us beyond the boundaries of the local church to “all nations.”
As a local pastor, there have admittedly been times where I have needed the reminder that the Great Commission isn’t just about my church.
And I’ve found that the moment we get outside ourselves, something healthy happens.
We think less selfishly.
We are beautifully interrupted from the daily cycles that inadvertently give us the impression that the Kingdom begins and ends with our local situation.
It’s easy to get discouraged because all we see are our own challenges. But when we remember there is a whole world of ministry needs God is using us to impact, we remember we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.
And because it’s really His mission, He shares the responsibility to fulfill it with us.
Notice how the Great Commission closes:
“Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Paul said “…we are God’s fellow workers…” (1 Corinthians 3:9)
That means He is with us, filling us with His power and presence, to fulfill His mission, both in our local ministry context and in the call to impact people beyond our walls.
And here is the beautiful Kingdom Truth: when we help make God’s mission happen outside our local context, God has a way of making sure His mission happens inside our local context too.
Jesus said:
“But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
When we prioritize what is on His heart, He faithfully takes care of what is on ours. Because what’s happening in the local church, is the fulfillment of Great Co-mission.
As you strengthen other churches in need through our revitalization efforts, and help plant new congregations in places that have not received the gospel, you are fulfilling the Great Co-mission God gave every believer, and are readying your church to receive the same blessings of expansion and revitalization!
We pray that God will add everything you need to your life and church, as you meet the needs of His Kingdom first by giving toward the work of church planting and revitalization through Harvesters today!
