State Administrative Bishop
Bishop Steve Smith serves as the Administrative Bishop for the New York Church of God. He is a second generation Church of God minister. From early childhood, it was evident that the call and the hands of God was upon his life. At about age 12, he led his first soul to Christ on the way home from school while still living in the beautiful island of Jamaica. Bishop Smith has served the church in various capacities; Administrative Bishop for the New Jersey Church of God for four years, leading the state from mission status to AA status, New York Church of God State Youth and Discipleship Director for eight years and Chairman of the Northeast Winterfest Committee for six years. He also served on the International Youth & Christian Education Board, as well as, the Church of God International Discipleship Board. He currently also serves on the Lee University Board of Directors. Bishop Smith has a Master’s Degree in Church Ministries from the Church of God Theological Seminary and is a graduate of LeaderLabs Executive Leadership Program. Bishop Smith is also currently pursuing his Doctorate in Ministry at Northeastern University. He has also served honorably in the USA Armed Forces; his decorations include The Army Good Conduct Medal and various achievement awards. In November 2011, he ran and successfully completed the New York Marathon (26.2 miles) as an evangelistic outreach tool. In November 2016 he again ran the New York Marathon as a FINISH COMMITMENT church planting project “26 miles 26 church plants”. He is married to the beautiful Karen Smith, and the Lord has blessed their marriage with two children, Sarah and Johnathan.
