The New York Church of God Department of Christian Education is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) by equipping and mobilizing God's people around the world for service (Matthew 25).

Ephesians 4:11-16
He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. (NLT)

Topic: Don’t Be Rocky Ground

"Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away."  {Mark 4:16-17}

Talk the Truth- "God's Word is in my heart and I can't be kept down. God always causes me to win in Jesus!" (Mark 4:20; Romans 8:37)

 Study the Truth- 2 Corinthians 4:6-18

Read the Truth- Exodus 9,10; Mark 4
There seem to be a whole lot of 'rocky' Christians these days. Initially, they get excited about the Bible. They'll hear someone talk about prayer, for instance, and they'll go home saying, "Yes! God will answer all my prayers!" but then, somehow, things don't work out like they thought.
Their friends don't all become Christians overnight. They go through some disappointments. Classmates make fun of them. Then, before you know it, their faith has faded away.
If you don't want that to happen to you, make up your mind right now that you won't let the rough times defeat you. Decide now that you will hold on to God's unchanging Word, even when hard days and criticism come-because, I guarantee you, they will come.  Remember, “we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us” Romans 8:37
When you decide to live a life of faith, you don't get rid of trouble. You will learn to overcome it. You'll have problems, but the difference is now you have the answer-God's Word.
So thank God that through Jesus you have the power to defeat Satan. When he brings problems and disappointments your way, you don't have to surrender and let them overtake you. Just keep standing in faith until you win.
If you get knocked down, get back up and say, "Look here, Satan. God's Word is in my heart and I say what it says. I will believe it and act on it until God's promises show up all around me. If you don't believe me, just hide and watch!"
If you'll take that attitude, no matter what Satan does, he'll never make a "rocky" Christian out of you!
